Step One: Fabric
If this had any chance of working then I needed the right fabric. I called up a couple fabric stores, asking for red cloth with white polka dots. (Go ahead. Try this. You will feel weird about it.) Finally, a fabric factory way South had polka dots of all kinds, including white ones on red cloths. So I trekked almost two hours on the ‘L’ to this place and searched around their warehouse. I could only find red polka dots on white cloth. After another hour of feeling awkward walking around a fabric warehouse, I decided that it would have to do. I mean, I found polka dots. Good enough.
